Jack is a logistics wizard of Noren Workshop, the alchemy senior who briefs the new apprentices at the discipline-selection plaza and later reunites with Jie Ming at the Junction.13 A second-level wizard of ordinary aptitude, he leads his own squad and recruits Jie Ming for a rescue mission that is really an ambush born of jealousy.4910 He dies with his party to Jie Ming, the Black Giants and the surviving recruits.10

Relationships

  • Jie Ming: Junior he briefs, then a mutual-support partner for the plane war, then the prey he picks out of envy.1310
  • Clark: The Mentor whose disciple he never earned the right to call himself.10
  • Levin Mills: Signaled by his metal-bird artifact during the Floating Camp affair.5
  • Mars: A senior he explains away as having had only third-level aptitude.2
  • Squad: Mechanical exoskeleton armor, a third-level potioncraft senior, members lost and replaced over the centuries.3

Background

Jack chose the logistics discipline on his parents' advice but lacks the intelligence and aptitude for it; he remains an ordinary apprentice who never earned the right to call himself Mentor Clark's disciple.10 He is one of the 153 logistics and combat wizards who survived from a batch of over five thousand, and he helped build the Floating Camp.14
