Clark is the Alchemy mentor at Noren Academy No. 13 who takes Jie Ming as his disciple, and for a long stretch the academy's only sixth-level wizard.¹¹³ Called the strongest genius in Noren Workshop's history, he majors in the Fate Law but secretly studies every law, and at the sixth level suppresses more than a hundred thirty seventh-level wizards alone.⁵⁶⁶⁵⁶⁹⁷³ After close to a hundred thousand years at the sixth level he advances to the seventh, marries Kastilla of the Crimson Court, and when conscripted declines special treatment, confident he can return from any task short of certain death.⁹⁴⁹⁸¹¹²¹²⁶

Relationships¶

Jie Ming: Disciple since enrollment; later a research partner who repays him over twenty billion low-level military merits.¹⁵¹¹⁰⁰
Viola: Disciple; he entrusts Jie Ming to her, often calls her far too weak, yet admits she surpasses him in broadening a law.³¹⁴⁷⁷⁴⁹⁷
Ang: Later direct disciple, taken at about ten; dies in a routine plane pioneering war.⁴¹⁴⁶⁶²
Anton Buchanan: His own mentor; builds Jie Ming's seventh-level elemental pool and advances to the eighth level.²⁴⁵²
Dionysius Spencer: Senior brother.⁶³⁷⁶
Wizard Augusta: Senior brother; fights beside him in the plane-cluster expedition.⁹⁶¹²⁰
Wizard Noren: Senior uncle; praises his disciples and grand-disciples.⁵³¹⁰⁸
Kastilla: Old flame from student days and childhood sweetheart, a seventh-level life-law witch of the Crimson Court; engaged for fifty years, then married.⁸⁶¹⁰³¹⁰⁴¹¹²
Jack: Nominal student, never fit to call himself Clark's disciple.⁴⁰
Starfall: The living plane he helps animate and then teaches as its first teacher.⁶¹⁷⁸
Mordekian: Enemy commander of the Fortress No. 7 siege; erased with a fingertip, revival imprint spared.⁷¹⁷²
Felix: Models his own mastery of all the laws on Clark's past purchase records.¹²⁴

Background¶

A lean, balding alchemy mentor with a peculiar monocle, met at the Alchemy consultation desk; his "veteran old workhorse" look of weariness and a worrying hairline persists until he shows up at a banquet as a handsome man in his early twenties.¹³⁵⁵⁷⁸⁵ The crude wire bracelet on his right wrist, a gift from Kastilla, has been there since Jie Ming first met him.¹²⁸⁵¹⁰³ A student of Anton Buchanan, he crafted a sixth-level material as an apprentice (?) and is remembered by older wizards as "that monster Clark from back then".⁵⁸⁵² He has been away from the frontlines for over a century when the story opens and owns a personal plane he calls his wizard tower: a floating crystal island laboratory and a white marble mansion staffed by servant races.⁷²⁷

His path is peak alchemy combined with fate and causality, not the spatial discipline, and he once spent several hundred years studying another plane's divine faith network.¹⁵²⁹⁴⁹ The door to fate-discipline knowledge opened for him only at the sixth level; his research suits perhaps only himself and cannot be spread.⁶⁵⁹¹ Resolved to study every law before advancing, he spent close to a hundred thousand years at the sixth level, mostly earning resources, and is marked "Dangerous" in enemy intelligence.⁸⁰⁹³⁹⁸ Jie Ming counts him the cleverest person he knows: cold until research comes up.¹⁰⁶ He also rates him the strongest of his teachers, though only a fairly strong seventh-level wizard.¹²⁵

Abilities¶

Ability	Acquired	Notes
Wizard level	Ch26-27⁴	Sixth level, the only one at Noren Academy No. 13, with nearly an eighth-level wizard's combat power; seventh level after close to a hundred thousand years at the sixth; still short of an eighth-level wizard's law fixation and elemental output multiplier.¹³⁷⁰⁹⁴⁹⁸⁹⁹ His slow breakthroughs are put down to the every-law route and the time spent making money.¹²⁷
Alchemy	Ch13-14³	Shapes gold into a mirror-polished cube by externalized mental energy and summons golems out of lab walls; makes tens of thousands of cubic meters of gold; transmutes barren soil into a steel fortress with one word, "Reshape"; reads a revival imprint at a glance.³¹¹⁶⁴⁷²
Fate Law	Ch81¹⁵	Main research direction; conducts the fate examination; too weak for a Substitute Death Doll at first; prepares a Fate Interference spell for Jie Ming's curse.⁴³²⁴⁵⁶³
Spare bodies	Ch165³²	Makes Jie Ming a spare body overnight and stores it in his laboratory; uses his last Substitute Death Doll on Jie Ming and revives him from the clone.³²⁴⁸⁴⁹
Law of "All"	Ch325⁴⁵	Learns the pain rule at a glance; locks the laws of wizards holding unrelated laws; a silver thread of existence erasure cuts seventeen seventh-level wizards in two; learns Disordered Hyperplasia and Positive-Negative Annihilation in one battle, treating new laws as machines assembled from basic laws; after advancement his law structure projects one tentacle per law; all laws mastered by Ch959.⁴⁵⁷⁰⁷³⁹⁵¹¹⁹
Shadow legion	Ch473⁶⁶	Released in ten seconds: about eighty million peak-sixth-level bone-armored warriors, over twenty million assassins, close to a million seventh-level eyeless wyverns and ten thousand eighth-level shadow lords; a standardized system mass-produces modified creatures up to the eighth level; later a Shadow Dragon legion, every one eighth-level.⁶⁶⁶⁷¹¹⁴
Plane animation	Ch533⁷⁸	Understands the Awakening Technique best after Starfall; a modification technique lets a Plane Lord's spirituality integrate a shattered plane spirituality; becomes the core consciousness of an animated plane with near-eighth-level power and reshapes an antimatter tide into elemental bolts.⁷⁸⁷⁹⁸¹
Essence drawing	Ch605⁸⁹	Fights without gesture or incantation; enemies approaching him have something close to their essence drawn out and vanish, including eighth-level behemoths; silences eighth-level insectoids with one word and seals a bone-armored beast into a fingernail-sized crystal.⁸⁹¹¹⁷
Law Solidification Domain	Ch868¹¹⁰	Expands to ten million kilometers, anchors a drifting spatial island and shatters Azrael's domain; crushes a fold beast with one step; unfolds with Wizard Fate against a ninth-level aura.¹¹⁰¹¹¹¹²¹
Other	Ch881¹¹²	Refines two bracelet wizard artifacts from ordinary materials that still feel threatening to Jie Ming.¹¹²
